Afterwork food & drink spots on the Central Eastside

The central eastside has a lot to offer for after work food + fun. From vodka flights to late nights with DJs, you are bound to find your quality dining and drinking experience here on the central eastside. If you are not familiar with the neighborhood or are looking to explore some great newer Portland spots we recommend checking out the following (psst: most of these places have a happy hour!).

Cooper’s Hall

Cooper’s Hall is great for groups, events, and has an easy on the wallet happy hour– featuring both drinks and food. Cooper’s aims to serve locally sourced quality ingredients. You can’t beat their Cooper’s – Willamette valley wines and also their wine-to go program including an awesome list of Cooper’s very own 30+ wines-to go.

With plenty of food options, you are bound to please your group. On the happy hour menu you’ll find delicious offerings such as Smoked Salmon Croquettes served with a grain mustard aioli at 4.00 dollar! Their 3 sandwich options with fries are a great choice, with my personal favorite the Veggie and Fries with manchego on a brioche bun. Try pairing these foods with one of their very affordable 5-6 dollar reds and whites.

Location: 404 SE 6th Avenue, Portland OR, 97214

Kachka

Do you like Russian cuisine? Have you ever had Russian cuisine/Eastern European style cusine? If your only answer is “just vodka”, then it’s time to give this place a try. The award-winning Kachka was on the 2016 top 38 National Eater list. This place is great for happy hour, 4-6pm as well as a late night happy hour from 10pm-12am for all you night owls. Happy hour food has a lot from the regular menu with favorites such as Beet Caviar, Tvorog Vareniki (scallion and farmer’s cheese filled dumplings), and the Golubtsi (pork and beef stuffed cabbage roll).

Also, be sure to gear up for their new location opening in the multi-use LOCA/Goats Block development area (more information here). Expect more seating, a larger menu selection, as well as a lunch offerings. Luckily, their current location will remain open until then.

Noble Rot

If there’s a wait, it is totally worth it for the great views, local food, and 4-6 dollar happy hour drink prices. Noble’s quality food and drink happy hour goes Monday through Friday, which is surely enough time to experience Noble’s hard to beat deals. Their seasonal menu has comfort food like Macaroni and Cheese, Hamburgers, and Herb Ricotta Toast with crunchy vegetables. Noble is a local-voirs dream, they have a rooftop garden that is active in the spring through fall months. Dazzle your colleagues with this fun recommendation for after work drinks. Our recommendation is the Violet Drop cocktail with Vodka, Byrrh, lemon, house pomegranate, and violet from the rooftop garden!

Olympia Provisions SE

Olymipia Provisions SE does quality right by serving a variety of internationally inspired menus and extensive beverage program. Make sure to ask the person helping you at Olymipia for their charcuterie and wine and drink pairing, their entire food menu is designed to coincide with their beverages. Trying to match that Finocchiona with fennel seed, garlic dry cured salami with the perfect Italian wine? Well ask their expert staff!

We recommend getting the chef’s choice of 3 cheeses of the day, and or their Cynar Pear Daiquiri and Stained Glass Rose cocktails. If you’re planning on going all out for lunch, try their Banh Mi with either seared pistachio pork pate or roasted pork belly. Don’t forget Olympia has an online store, where you can always snag that last minute Mother’s Day gift. Unfortunately you won’t find happy hour here, but everything about Olymipa makes it worth every penny.

Revelry

Coming all the way from Seattle to Portland the talented husband and wife chef team give you Korean inspired fare at Revelry. After opening the successful Revel and Joule in Seattle, the duo bring you their first Portland restaurant. Serving noodle, pancake and rice bowl dishes next to a DJ spinning late night tunes, Revelry has a sophisticated yet casual vibe. Some CENTRL favorites are Mrs. Yang’s Spicy Fried Chicken with peanut brittle and the Maitake Mushroom Noodle Dish. If you’re feeling a little adventurous, the Kimchi Paloma late night cocktail for only $7 is a tasty mixture of tequila, pineapple kimchi, lime and Mexican squirt. Don’t forget to check out their Brunch Series, which is fit for the whole family, May 15th.

Rum Club

If you are a fan of rum cocktails and or tiki-tropical cocktails, then this is your place. The author/Key West inspired cocktail called the ‘Hemingway’ is a great start, which is made with aged light rum, grapefruit, lime, and demerara syrup. The happy hour food options Rum Club offers are the Spiced Snack Mix with throwback snacks like Chex, pretzels, pepitas, Goldfish, Albina City Spicy Cornuts. Also on the menu is the Salt Roasted Potatoes, and if you’re the adventurous type, Two Pickled Eggs–all on their happy hour menu.

The regular cocktail menu has a lot to chose from, with one of my tiki favorites being, the Almost Paradise made with Rum Club’s house spiced rum, aged Martinique Rhum, guava & lemon, passion fruit & hibiscus syrups, bitters, nutmeg and crushed iced. Their food menu is unique and flavorful Kimchi Dumplings with Ota Tofu, and house-made kimchi are a great pick. If a sandwich is more your thing try the Midnight Sandwich served on two cuban rolls with, ham, swiss, pickle, dijon, and aioli and a side plantain chips.
