CENTRL Neighborhood Spotlight: Downtown Portland
At CENTRL, we strive to create an office environment that is both energetic and inspiring — just like the neighborhoods we’re in. We believe it’s important that where you work is only a short walk from the small pleasures that make going to the office worth it, like having great options for artisan coffee and lunch, relaxing after work spots, and culture.
Luckily, there is no shortage of amazing local businesses to support near our downtown Portland workspace. Located around the corner from the Ace Hotel, our members enjoy access to elegantly designed offices, steps away from a vibrant and walkable neighborhood full of locally owned breakfast spots, bistros, and bike paths. If you are looking for a better work-life balance, then downtown Portland has it all!
Here’s a partial list of a few of our neighbors we think you’ll like and hope you’ll support. Just remember to bring your mask! We’ll also be giving shout-outs to more of our neighbors in future posts.

Petunia’s Pies & Pastries is a great gluten-free and vegan shop that offers a plethora of innovative pastries and desserts featuring fresh, seasonal, local, and wholesome ingredients. Cheryl’s on 12th
1135 SW Washington St, Portland, OR 97205
Pioneered by Cheryl and Ed Casey, Cheryl’s on 12th is a New American restaurant and cafe situated in the heart of downtown Portland. Its beautiful floor to ceiling windows, quaint charm, and delicious offerings make it a hot spot for foodies all around. We love their complimentary beignets, plus their Migas, which is a Mexican style scramble with a side of Portuguese sausage and rosemary roasted potatoes.
1123 SW Washington St, Portland OR 97205
Portland is known for being a coffee town, and for good reason. If you’re looking to kickstart your day, stop into Heart for a quick espresso and a delicious pistachio rose croissant. Their honey cardamom latte is also amazing. They source fresh ingredients while combining interesting flavors even on the most basic breakfast items. We also love their minimalist chic decor which includes a unique touch of custom artwork.
Lunch & Midday
1205 SW Washington St, Portland, OR 97205
Starting out as a food cart in SE Portland, Lardo has grown into a full-service sandwich shop that worships at the altar of bovine and swine. Combining old-world techniques with contemporary flourishes, Lardo offers a menu that features pork drenched double burgers, a giant meatball Banh Mi, and hand-cut french fries (again) smothered in pork. Give their Piggy Smalls burger a try!
Addy’s Sandwich Bar
911 SW 10th Ave, Portland, OR 97205
Founded by Portland native Addy Bittner, Addy’s Sandwich bar offers European-style sandwiches made with all-natural, organic and locally sourced products on baguettes from Little T. Addy’s menu features house-cured ham, natural turkey breast, duck confit, country pate, line-caught tuna, seasonal vegetarian options and a toasted chocolate/sea salt/olive oil sandwich. We also love her Spella Coffee, fresh vegetable juices, and fruit smoothies!
1128 SW Alder St, Portland, OR 97205
Looking for shareable plates of Israeli street food? Then Shalom Y’all is your place, with a menu featuring vegetable-centric dishes such as falafel, hummus and house-made pita, a variety of salads, and breakfast revolving around the classic Israeli morning meal shakshuka—plus an eccentric and fun offering of low-proof cocktails inspired by the flavors of the Mediterranean. In addition to amazing food, we also love their marble tables and rustic woods, all with views of the open kitchen and pita oven.
611 SW Tenth Ave, Portland, OR 97205
Located at the historic Sentinel Hotel, Jake’s Grill brings the classic American Grill dining experience to downtown Portland. Jake’s Grill serves the finest meat and fresh seafood you can find, in a classic, uncomplicated style. If you’re stopping by for Happy Hour, their classic bar serves hand-crafted, hand-mixed cocktails and a wide selection of single malt whiskies.
Multnomah Whiskey Library
1124 SW Alder St, Portland, OR 97205
A Portland classic, Multnomah Whiskey Library is a cozy Rose City hideaway where skilled bartenders prepare Old Fashioneds and Vieux Carrés tableside atop mid-century bar carts while others climb brass library ladders to take stock of the 1,800+ bottles lining the rustic brick back wall. And if you can’t help but overindulge, don’t worry: they also offer a full dinner menu. Their Pacific NW oysters are excellent!
1014 SW Stark St, Portland, OR 97205
Clyde Common remains the coolest restaurant in downtown Portland. Located right next to the Ace Hotel, it features a world-class cocktail bar, a beautifully designed dining room, and an ever changing menu that is known to feature semi-obscure ingredients like charred octopus, strawberry gazpacho, braised fennel, and anise. Be sure to check out their happy hour menu and eclectic cocktails, particularly the barrel-aged Negroni.
