Local Lunch Recommendations – Pearl District
At CENTRL, we know there’s more to work than just showing up to the office. That’s why we choose locations that are in vibrant, walkable (and bikeable) neighborhoods where a thriving and inspiring entrepreneurial spirit can be felt while simply strolling down the street.
Fortunately, many of these entrepreneurs not only feed new ideas, they feed people, too. As a result, this is a neighborhood teeming with amazing locally owned lunch spots, many of them steps away from our Pearl District location. With so many options, though, we know that deciding where to grab a bite can sometimes feel like quite the dilemma.
With this in mind, here are a few of our favorite lunch spots. Of course, we’re only scratching the surface here, but you can’t go wrong with any of these locally owned Pearl District eateries.
The Star
thestarportland.com
1309 NW Hoyt St, Portland, OR 97209
If you are wondering where to find the best deep dish pizza is in Portland, The Star is your answer. The cheeses are delicious, the toppings are always perfectly done, and the cornmeal crust gives their pies that extra texture and crunch that we love. The staff are always friendly and welcoming, and ordering takeout is also simple and hassle free. The only difficulty you’ll have is choosing which pizza to order!
Break Bread
breakbreadpdx.com
1106 NW Hoyt St, Portland, OR 97209
Get yourself over to Break Bread for simple, creative sandwiches on the go. From their chicken red pesto pepperjack to the pastrami with caramelized onions and pickled shallots, there is something for everybody. Their sauces and roasted veggies are all prepared in house. We also think it’s great that Break Bread partners with fellow locals like Dos Hermanos Bakery and Pacific Coast Produce.
Khao San
khaosanpdx.com
1435 NW Flanders St, Ste A, Portland, OR 97209
In the mood for an authentic Thai street food experience? Then Khao San is the place for you. Every dish is exceptional and full of the perfect blend of herbs and spices. We love their Tom Yum soup (creamy with lots of lemongrass) and we especially recommend the papaya salad and Pad Thai. Pro Tip: ask for the pickled jalapeños if you’d like a kick.
CENTRL Loves Local Businesses
Beyond our workspace, what makes our location special is our neighbors — local businesses like us — who form the backbone of our community. That’s why we encourage you to support our neighbors here in the Pearl District. And whether you are looking for the perfect slice of pizza, taco, or a spot to grab a beer after work, always feel free to ask our staff for a recommendation. We’re here to help!
