Portland West End Lunch Recommendations

Local Lunch Recommendations – West End Portland

At CENTRL, we know there’s more to work than just showing up to the office. That’s why we choose locations that are in vibrant, walkable (and bikeable) neighborhoods where a thriving and inspiring entrepreneurial spirit can be felt while simply strolling down the street.

Lucky for us, many of these entrepreneurs not only feed new ideas, they feed people, too. As a result, this is a neighborhood teeming with amazing locally owned lunch spots, many of them steps away from our West End location. With so many options, though, we know that deciding where to grab a bite can sometimes feel overwhelming.

With this in mind, here’s a short list of our favorite places for lunch. Of course, we’re only scratching the surface here, but you can’t go wrong with any of these locally owned West End eateries.

Lardo

1205 SW Washington St, Portland, OR 97205
Starting out as a food cart in SE Portland, Lardo has grown into a full-service sandwich shop that worships at the altar of bovine and swine. Combining old-world techniques with contemporary flourishes, Lardo offers a menu that features pork drenched double burgers, a giant meatball Banh Mi, and hand-cut french fries (again) smothered in pork. Give their Piggy Smalls burger a try!

Shalom Y’all

1128 SW Alder St, Portland, OR 97205
Looking for shareable plates of Israeli street food? Then Shalom Y’all is your place, with a menu featuring vegetable-centric dishes such as falafel, hummus and house-made pita, a variety of salads, and breakfast revolving around the classic Israeli morning meal shakshuka—plus an eccentric and fun offering of low-proof cocktails inspired by the flavors of the Mediterranean. In addition to amazing food, we also love their marble tables and rustic woods, all with views of the open kitchen and pita oven.

Bamboo Sushi

404 SW 12th Ave, Portland, OR 97205
Bamboo Sushi is our go-to choice for sushi in the West End. They pride themselves in offering sustainable sushi, so some of the typical sushi options you’d get elsewhere might not be offered here (like toro). Their cauliflower appetizer is amazing and we highly recommend trying the Green Machine, a vegetarian sushi roll.

CENTRL Loves Local Businesses

Beyond our workspace, what makes our location special is our neighbors — local businesses like us — who form the backbone of our community. That’s why we encourage you to support our neighbors here in Portland’s West End. And whether you are looking for the perfect slice of pizza, taco, or a spot to grab a beer after work, always feel free to ask our staff for a recommendation. We’re here to help!
